7 years together and we are only getting started
11,5 million rides, over 23 million kilometres, and countless adventures later, Hopp Reykjavík is celebrating its 7th anniversary!

It's hard to believe that seven years have passed since a group of Icelandic entrepreneurs set out on a mission and the first Hopp electric scooters appeared on the streets of Reykjavík. What started as an exciting new way to get around has since become a natural part of everyday life in the city.
Over these seven years, we've grown, learned, evolved, and most importantly, shared millions of journeys with you. Whether it's a quick Hopp to work, a ride between meetings, a taxi home after a great night out, or a shared car for a weekend adventure, our mission has always remained the same: to make it easier for people to get where they need to go.
11.5 Million Rides and Counting!
Since 2019, Hopp users in Reykjavík have taken a total of 11,535,930 rides on our electric scooters and shared cars.
Together, Hopp vehicles have travelled an incredible 23,185,080 kilometres.
To put that into perspective, that's the equivalent of travelling around the Earth approximately 579 times!
That's a whole lot of kilometres, a whole lot of rides, and hopefully a whole lot of smiles along the way.
And the best part? We're nowhere near finished!
Greener Mobility, One Ride at a Time
At Hopp, we believe the future of mobility isn't necessarily about everyone owning their own car. It's about giving people real choices when it comes to getting from A to B.
Sometimes walking is the best option.
Sometimes cycling.
Sometimes taking the bus.
And sometimes, the easiest thing to do is simply Hopp!
According to our calculations, the use of Hopp electric scooters and shared cars in Reykjavík has resulted in an estimated CO₂ saving of more than 3,125 tonnes since 2019.
It's an achievement we're incredibly proud of, but it also reminds us of the enormous potential that comes with giving people more diverse and accessible transport options.
What if 20% more people chose to Hopp?
Assuming similar usage patterns and the same emissions-saving calculations, the estimated CO₂ savings could have reached approximately 3,750 tonnes.
And what if usage had been 50% higher? We'd be looking at nearly 4,688 tonnes of CO₂ saved.
These are simplified projections, but they highlight the potential impact of making shared and micromobility solutions a bigger part of everyday transportation.
Born in Iceland, Going Global!
Although Hopp's roots are firmly planted in Iceland, our journey has taken us far beyond our little island.
In just seven years, Hopp has grown from an Icelandic idea into an international mobility service, now operating in 70 cities across 17 countries, stretching from the Middle East to the Caribbean.
We're incredibly proud to see Icelandic innovation reach this far and to play a part in shaping the future of urban mobility, both here at home and around the world.
From Electric Scooters to Endless Possibilities
Today, Hopp is about so much more than electric scooters.
With the introduction of our taxi service, followed by our fleet of 100% electric shared cars, we've continued to develop solutions that allow people to choose the mode of transport that best suits their needs.
We want to make it easier to live without constantly relying on a privately owned car. Not because cars are unnecessary, but because you don't always need to own a car to have access to one.
And we'll keep exploring new ways to make transportation simpler, more accessible, and more enjoyable for everyone.
We're Just Getting Started!
Building a company is one thing. Building a community is something else entirely.
And we wouldn't have come this far without every single person who has chosen to Hopp with us over the past seven years.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to our users, partners, team members, and everyone who has supported us along the way so thank you for every single ride, every piece of feedback, every idea, your patience, and most importantly, your trust.
The past seven years have been an incredible adventure, and we're even more excited about everything that's still to come.
Let's keep creating a greener, more enjoyable, and a better city together!
Happy 7th anniversary to all our fellow Hoppers! 💚
